Pumpkin Time

Where I grew up we didn't have a Autumn really. We never really got to see a change of the seasons. We would always come to Utah for Christmas and yes the snow was exciting, but it was really cold. Really really cold to us desert rats. I never knew leaves could turn such brilliant colors and pumpkins get so big! Until I moved to Cedar and live through the fall. I've now have seen many Autumns and even a little bit of some Indian Summers and I love it! I love the festivities, the leaves, the smells, the crafts, the corn mazes, the pumpkin patches, the crisp air, and most of all the Colors!

Being from a place where there is no fall we really don't have fantastic looking pumpkins either so.....my pumpkin carving skills lack.....Jake's are awesome! But he has been too busy and I wanted some decorated pumpkins. So I saw on a blog how you can use cake doilies as a pattern to paint on pumpkins. Mine turned out terrible. No picture because it was so terrible. So I just painted the whole thing black and thought I would paint white polka dots. The Dots ran :( Found out later that all the women who did polka dot pumpkins used their handy dandy vinyl cutters to cut out circles. Note to self: Get Handy Dandy Silhouette or cricut, would make crafts a whole lot less embarrassing. In the end, I gave that pumpkin to Dax to paint and he had a blast which was worth that whole fiasco. The other two I just did the thing I was good at. Back in the day when I use to babysit I would entertain the kiddies by drawing cartoon characters. So I painted Bruce from Finding Nemo (Dax is really into sharks right now) and Mike from Monsters, Inc. because he fits in really well in a Halloween motiff.
